Padel levels in Bali: how to describe your game

How to compare level labels used by Bali clubs, coaches and tournaments without treating different scales as identical.

Treat labels as context, not a universal conversion

Providers may use words, numbers, divisions or event-specific categories. Playtomic ratings can be useful context when the provider uses Playtomic, but the same number or word may not represent exactly the same standard in another club or group.

Describe observable playing experience

A useful request combines your label with evidence a coach or organizer can interpret. There is no defensible universal conversion table for every Bali provider.

  • How long you have played and how often you currently play.
  • Whether you can serve, return and sustain a controlled rally.
  • Experience with glass, positioning and transitions to the net.
  • Recent competition level, if it can be stated accurately.
  • The provider or group where your current label was assigned.

For tournaments, read the category rules

The organizer’s stated category, pair restrictions and eligibility rules take priority over a generic self-rating. Ask before registering when a rule is unclear; do not enter a lower category based only on a label.

For coaching, uncertainty is useful information

Selecting “not sure” is better than guessing. A provider can recommend a first session or assessment when that service is actually available.
